"Schengen visa applicants are being urged to stay vigilant against scammers and to avoid delaying their applications until the last minute, according to a recent warning issued by visa outsourcing company VFS Global.
In an official statement, Bernard Vijay Kumar, VFS Global’s Head of North Asia and the Philippines, highlighted that scammers are increasingly targeting applicants. He emphasized the need for caution, as fraudulent individuals and intermediaries are offering fake appointments and misleading promises of guaranteed visa approvals in exchange for money.
Vijay Kumar stressed that applying for visas well ahead of time is crucial. Delaying the process not only raises the risk of processing delays but also makes applicants more vulnerable to scams that prey on their urgency.
“We strongly advise all travelers to submit their visa applications well in advance of their intended travel dates. Waiting until the last minute can lead to unnecessary delays and increases the likelihood of falling victim to fraudulent schemes,” Vijaykumar stated.
To facilitate a smooth application process, he reminded applicants that Schengen visas can be submitted up to six months before the planned travel date. While the latest applications can be made at least 15 days prior to the intended entry into the Schengen Area, last-minute submissions are discouraged to avoid potential complications and delays.
By planning ahead and staying alert to potential scams, applicants can ensure a more secure and efficient visa application experience."
